Description
Running at mains voltage removes most of that. This strip takes AC 220–240 V directly, so there is no transformer and no low-voltage distribution to design around. The current figure shows why that matters: at 220 V, 5 W per metre draws 0.025 A, where the same 5 W at 12 V would draw roughly 0.42 A — about seventeen times the current, and therefore about seventeen times the resistive loss over the same cable run. That is the entire argument for high-voltage strip on long building perimeters. Note that we do not publish a maximum single-feed run length, because the datasheet does not state one; confirm the feed arrangement against your own layout before ordering.
Be clear about what this model is for. At 400 lumens per metre it is the lowest-output product in the W range — this is a line that draws the eye along an edge, not a source that lights a surface. If you need the outline to do lighting work as well as decorative work, the 780 lm/m 60-LED model or the 900 lm/m models are the right place to look. The 9.5 × 5 mm cross-section is the slimmest square profile in the range, which suits tight reveals. Cutting is at one-metre intervals, so runs are set in whole metres rather than in fine increments. Mounting is by clip and screw, not adhesive. Rated IP65 for sheltered outdoor use — protected against water jets, but not for submersion. Supplied as a 50 m reel with CE, CB, and RoHS certification held by the manufacturer.
